Expertise: programmes, innovation, digitalisation and circular construction

I lead programmes and projects around innovation, digitalisation and change in construction. You can hire me as an (interim) programme or project manager, to strengthen your innovation team or for a single substantiated assessment. Circularity and CO₂ are my subject specialism.

Pillar 1 · Programme and project management

From ambition to execution

  • Leading programmes: as Manager Programmes and Projects at Cirkelstad, and previously as interim programme lead of Toekomstbestendig Bouwen (Nov 2025 – Jul 2026)
  • Project and process management: from plan to delivery, such as the final logistics responsibility for ten Hudson's Bay stores at MVRO
  • Innovation and change: testing an idea in an ongoing project and then actually implementing it, such as the innovation process at OMDUS and Project Milestone at Van Wijnen
  • Business development and strategy: KPIs, positioning and the business case for sustainability
  • Building design and guidance for private clients: extensions and renovations, with design, engineering, procurement and site supervision
Pillar 2 · Digitalisation and BIM

Information that works on site

  • 15 years of experience in BIM and digitalisation
  • Setting up BIM processes and information management according to ISO 19650, with model checks and rulesets (Solibri)
  • Implementing BIM software with training and templates
  • IFC models and quantities from existing drawings and data, with my own Python scripts
  • Process digitalisation for organisations: the information flows of Fixzed for OMDUS, helping think through a new BCI environment for BCI Gebouw, and CSRD reporting with data from the digital platform for VolkerWessels (DigiBase)
  • Automation with AI: bots that structure recurring work (such as intake, checks and reports) and make it verifiable

Above all, BIM should deliver better information for the people who do the real work. A nice picture alone is not enough.

My starting point
Pillar 3 · Specialism: circularity and CO₂

Making circular construction measurable

  • BCI Gebouw assessments (Building Circularity Index): detachability, material use (MCI) and scenarios. I am a registered BCI expert and have been working with the BCI for 5 years.
  • MPG and MKI calculations based on the Dutch National Environmental Database (NMD), including material alternatives, also after the switch to the 19 environmental impact categories (A2 set) as of July 2026.
  • Whole Life Carbon: CO₂ emissions over the entire life cycle. I researched this in renovations for SPARK Campus.
  • Training: on BCI, MPG and circular construction.
  • Tender support: translating ambitions into substantiated KPIs, requirements and tender texts, as for the Lithos tender in Bergen op Zoom.
  • Scenarios and material alternatives: calculating variants for façade, roof and building services, so you choose based on numbers.

For whom: contractors, developers, housing associations, municipalities and consultancies.

Three ways to work together

Assignment

An assessment, training, research or tender support, with a fixed scope.

Suitable if you have a concrete question (BCI, MPG, CO₂, training, tender).

Interim / programme

For a fixed period as programme or innovation manager.

Suitable if you want to set up a programme or get it up to speed.

Sparring partner

A few hours a month thinking along about strategy and approach.

Suitable if your team does the work but is looking for a sounding board.

Frequently asked questions

What is a BCI assessment?

The Building Circularity Index (BCI Gebouw) shows how circular a building is: how many reused or reusable materials it contains and how easily they can be taken apart later.

What is the difference between MPG and BCI?

The MPG (Environmental Performance of Buildings) expresses the environmental impact of the materials in euros per m² per year and is required by Dutch law. The BCI measures circularity: detachability and material cycles. Both come from the same material input, so it pays to have them calculated together.

Do you also work for smaller organisations?

Yes. Standard assessments have a fixed price through TOT2050. For custom work I provide a quote.

Can you work on location?

Yes, throughout the Netherlands. I work from the Arnhem-Nijmegen region.

A programme, an innovation or a question about BCI and BIM?

A short conversation is usually enough to see whether I can help you.
